When travelling around Berlin, we recommend using apps like Bolt or Uber rather than a classic taxi. Here’s why:

✅ Transparent Pricing

With Bolt or Uber, you always see the price estimate before you confirm the ride. There’s no risk of being overcharged, which can sometimes happen with regular street taxis, especially in tourist-heavy areas.

✅ No Language Barrier

You can simply enter your destination in the app, so there’s no need to explain your address or worry about language misunderstandings with the driver.

✅ Easy Payment

Pay directly in the app using your credit/debit card, Apple Pay, or Google Pay—no need to carry cash or worry about exact change.

✅ Reliable GPS and Tracking

You can track your driver’s arrival, share your trip status with friends or family, and review your route.

INSURANCE INFORMATION

The UCLA have arranged two types of insurance policies for all the students:

  • CISI
  • CHUBB AXA

The details of your insurance are available in your UCLA portals.

The CISI insurance is seen as primary as UCLA can sometimes get Guartentee of Payment setup, although this is usually only the case with larger issues.

Otherwise, with both policies the student can pay out of pocket and submit a claim for reimbursement later.
